Inle Lake Boat Tour Chronicles Part 5 – A Visit to the Local Market

On our second day of boat tour, our first destination was a local market near the floating gardens. I was ecstatic to see the market as it has been one of my favorite places to visit in all the countries that I have been to in my travels. I always see something unique and interesting in markets and I’m always excited to see something new in the next market that I’ll go to.

Me and my group met around 7AM and after breakfast we all went directly to the marina where our boat was docked. One of the travelers who joined us on our first trip did not opt to join the second boat tour anymore.

The boat ride from Nyaung Shwe to the market took us just less than an hour since it wasn’t as far as our previous destination on our first trip.

Here are some pictures taken on our way to the market:

As soon as we docked, we walked for around 15 minutes to get to the market. We were lucky that we were the first group that arrived and we had enough time to photograph the market but after just half an hour, huge groups of tourist started coming in. It seems that this market is part of everyone’s itinerary for that morning.

The market is quite small but there are so many locals buying food items for the day. There are also so many souvenir items for sale and you’ll surely find something that you might want to bring home.

Here are some pictures of the market:

There’s also a restaurant nearby in case you get very hungry.

After spending almost an hour in the market, we then went back to our boat and traveled towards Indein.
