How to Get an Inner Line Permit in Reckong Peo

If you’re going to travel to Kaza from Reckong Peo (or the other way around), you’ll be needing an Inner Line Permit which can be secured from either Kaza or Reckong Peo. This is required for all travellers going through this region.

Getting the Inner Line Permit is pretty straightforward. There’re travel agencies near the Tourism Office in Reckong Peo that can help arrange this for you for 350 Rupees. We inquired at the Tourism Office about the permit but was just re-directed to the travel agencies.

After filling up the required information in the application form you then proceed to the government office where you could have you picture taken. You also need to give them a copy of your passport and Indian Visa. You also need your original passport with you as it will be checked before your picture gets taken.

After your picture gets taken, you have to go back to the travel agency and just wait there for the permit.

The permit that we got is only valid for two weeks and we have to complete the journey before the permit expires.

There are various checkpoints where these permits will be checked by local officials. So be sure to secure a permit before you travel in this region to avoid some hassles.
