As soon as we got our Indian Visa in Phnom Penh we immediately started hunting cheap flights to Calcutta from Bangkok.
After reading various blogs and comparing various prices of airlines, we realized that the best place to fly out from would be Bangkok. If you are staying in a hotel in Bangkok, take advantage of this information.
Finding cheap flights is like playing roulette games. It could feel like a game of chance because the airfare often fluctuates due to a lot of factors such as date of travel and the season. But if you play your cards right and if you do your research, you could definitely get a higher chances of scoring a great deal.
After searching the net and booking our ticket which was just just a week in advance, we got a $100 (All In) one way ticket each to Calcutta. I’m sure that there might be cheaper tickets out there if you book way out in advance. But this is already a great deal considering that we bought the ticket just a week from the date of our flight.
Here’s how I searched for cheap flights to Calcutta from Bangkok:
1. Check An Online Consolidator to Find the Airlines Serving Calcutta-Bangkok: Online consolidators provide you a good sneak peek on how much the airfare would be and it’s definitely worth checking it out.

2. Check Website Listings of Low Cost Carriers: I’ve been using Attitude Travel for a few years now and I find it very helpful. It has listings of low cost carriers that serve most countries in the world.

3. Ask around for deals in travel agencies: Sometimes, travel agencies have better deals than what we find in airline websites. It might not hurt to spend an hour asking around just to check for better deals.
After some searching, I found the cheapest flight for my desired date of flight with Air Asia.
Hope this helps you find cheap flights to India!
