Meet the Nomads - Stefan of Redcat Travel

How did you discover your passion for travelling?

“When I was 19 and just about to finish high school I decided to go for a working holiday by myself in Australia and New Zealand. It was just the wish to discover bevore I decided what to do in my life. That’s when all my solo traveling started.”

What’s the most horrible experience that you’ve had on the road?

“I wouldn’t say I’ve had horrible experiences, but once I flew from Melbourne to Perth, the airline forgot my luggage in Melbourne. I ended up driving to downtown Perth without luggage and as usually, without hotel. I didn’t even had a toothbrush. Fortunately the next day the airline delivered the bag the following day.”

What’s the best travel experience that you’ve ever had?

“One of my big highlights so far was walking the Annapurna Circuit Track in Nepal and the feeling when crossing the pass at 5416m, one of the best feelings in my life. ”

What’s the biggest realization that you’ve got out of travelling?

“That foreign countries are never the way other people told me they would be like. It’s great to always figure out how it feels like at one place by yourself. I hope with my blog I can give other people incentives to do so as well.”

What keeps you going? What keeps you motivated?

“That it’s my own life and if I don’t experience new things (means new countries) I feel like I miss out opportunities.”

This is a silly and hypothetical one. If you would be given a chance to travel with a popular person or a celebrity, who would it be and why?

“I’m a solo traveler and not even a celebrity would change that. Maybe a girl can change it one day haha.”

El Nido, Palawan

Where’s your favourite place in this planet and why?

“My favorite place to stay for longer is Thailand, by now I can also speak and write Thai. One of my best travel experiences I had in the Philippines and Nepal.”

What’s your best tip for newbie traveller?

“Just to dare and go out there. The most difficult decision is to decide going traveling, from there everyone can do it.”

What’s the funniest and silliest thing you’ve ever done while travelling?

“Hmm, quite a few maybe. Sitting on the roof next to backpacks of a jeep in Nepal while all other people were inside the vehicle and driving around the hills like crazy was one of the more risky things I have done.”

What do you think about yourself?

“I’m always out to try new things, I love to see them with my own eyes, take pictures and then share everything with my friends and also on my blog with a wide audience.”
