Below is Flip’s short interview with Matt.
How did you discover your passion for travelling?
“On a trip to costa rica back in 2004 and I’ve never looked back since.”
What’s the most horrible experience that you’ve had on the road?
“Going to Vietnam”
What’s the most outstanding travel experience that you’ve ever had?
“Living for a month on the island of Ko Lipe in Thailand but I have so many good memories from the road.”
What’s the biggest realization that you’ve got out of travelling?
“It’s easier than people think.”
What keeps you going? What keeps you motivated?
“This is what I love. That’s motivation enough. When I need a break, I stop somewhere for an extended time.”
This is a silly and hypothetical one. If you would be given a chance to travel with a popular person or a celebrity, who would it be?
“Anthony Bourdain”
What could stop you from travelling?
“Death”
Among the places that you’ve been to, which one fascinated you the most?
“I’m not really sure. I love so many different places. I’d have to go with Thailand though as I love it the most.”
What’s the best travel advice that you could give for a novice traveler like me?
“Do what you want. Damn the consequences.”
“My blog is about travel advice on how to travel the world on a budget.” – Matt
